A steampunk short story of how Belle met Benji.
When Lady Arabella Trunkett comes upon a young boy hidden away in an insane asylum, she's doubly outraged to discover he's the son of a wealthy lord of the realm. Seems the starchy and pompous Lord Wentworth wants no part of his oldest son's crazy exploits and explosive experiments.
But Lady Arabella recognizes the child's eccentric behavior is actually an outpouring of undirected genius. Determined to right this terrible wrong, she rescues him from the asylum and takes him to live with her, convinced she can turn his brilliance in a non-incendiary direction.
Lord Wentworth is not pleased when he discovers Belle's interference with his dastardly plan. He'll stop at nothing to retrieve his heir and return him to the dark depths of the asylum so his "normal" second son can inherit his title.
Unfortunately, he didn't count on Arabella...and her multi-shooter.

Off to a slow start, this is really background story for the first book of 'The Airship Adventure Chronicles'. We meet Benji as an eleven-year-old in an asylum, Belle discovers that he is a misunderstood boy genius and promptly claims him from an abusive father. Loved learning more about the character Ben he's so smart. Awesome read would definitely recommend to read with the rest of the series.
This is a great introduction to Belle and how feisty she is along with Benji and his journey to being Belle's ward.
This lady,Lara , writes such a great stories . I have enjoyed all her Steampunk series. A must read for young teen and ladies who like a well written book!
I love this whole series but this one caught me out because it ended so soon. I thought I would get a little more story between this book and the first book of the series to give me more back story. I guess I always want more if it's good.
I read Ms.Nance's books before getting this but it didnt lessen the impact of the books to read it after the fact. I am definitely a fan; like steampunk? she is one of the very best writers now out there.
Find the first, or read this first for back story of genius boy ... either way, you will be the winner.
I enjoyed finding out how stories start out so im not left with this feeling that something is missingfrom this saga. I can't wait for the next few books that will take us even deeper into the world of the airship adventures. I would really like to meet this author in person, if for nothing else to meet the mind behind theses great adventure stories. 10 out of ten. Great job laura. URBAN.
